1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider

Hi again, this is my fourth submission and I completed this build about two years ago. I usually prefer the 1/32 scale, but since I could not find any Sky Raider in this scale, I decided to get the Tamiya kit. I used Testors spray paints for the fuselage and M/M's, and Enamels for the rest of the build. This was an OOB build, and I must say that the Tamiya fit was perfect for this kit. This was my first model that I experimented with the Pro-modelers wash. For my research about this particular bird, I realized that the finish needed to look extra dirty; I just hope I didn't over do it though. I was very impressed with the level of details with this kit, and I felt I did not need to compliment it with any aftermarket items. The decals were just great and the one thing I would have done different was to use semi-gloss coat instead of the ultra-gloss coat that I used to seal the weathering.

I added a full weapons load with this bird in addition to the under wing fuel tanks. I am not quite sure if the weapons load that I used is accurate, but dang it, it sure looks good. For you eagle eyes out there, I did make a noticeable mistake during painting that I caught right after I completed the build. I am sure some of you will give me an earful of this mistake, and your comments will be duly noted. To be honest, that's the reason I did not submit this bird a long time ago. I had hoped to fix it with an airbrush, but I just did not want to screw it up anymore, and it certainly looks pretty good anyway.

I certainly enjoyed putting this kit together and I hope you enjoy the photos.
