1/48 Hobbyboss MiG-17F "Caribbean MiG"

Gallery Article by Rafael Zúñiga on Aug 8 2011

This is my 1/48 MiG-17F Hobbyboss in “Revolutionary” color scheme, representing DAARFAR (Defensa Anti Aérea Fuerza Aérea Revolicionaria now Cuban Air Force) that arrived to the island in the 60’s. In some references it appeared in polished aluminum and others in dark green with blue gray in the upper surface and light sky blue colors below. This model was painted with Model Master paints for the scheme and metalizer for the exhaust. Aztec decals and painted serial numbers.

To give a realistic weathering (typical of this kind of Caribbean aircraft) I used dry pastels. This is a very easy to build kit, I made some scratch modifications in the interior details of the cockpit. Over all, this is accurate and very nice kit.

Thanks to my friends of Solomaquetas.com and IPMS Chile for your help.
Cheers,

Rafael Zúñiga
