This
P-47D from Tamiya was built "Out of the box". A Beautiful
kit, that goes together with ease. The decals are a mix of the kit decals
and Superscale 48-788 Razorback P-47D. I used a piece of guitar string for the
whip antenna, and some EZE Line for the HF Radio Wire. The Paints are Model
Master Olive Drab FS34087, Neutral Grey FS36270 and Testors 1184 Zinc Chromate
(Yellow) for the wheel wells and gear doors. The model was pre-shaded with flat
black on all panel lines. To weather the P-47, I dry brushed Aluminium on the
wing root areas and the propeller blades, paint chips added using a grey artist
pencil, aAnd some artists pastels for exhaust and gun stains. This Kit is a
joy to build and I highly recommend it.

This
P-47D was from the famous 352nd fighter group "The Blue Nosed Bastards of
Bodney". It was coded PE-K and the shared mount of Lt Jamie Laing and
Robert "Punchy" Powell Jr of the 328th FS.
The
aircraft displayed nose art on both sides. Starboard side was "Punchy's"
with "THE WEST by Gawd VIRGINIAN" and Laing's side displayed
"Jamie my boy". Punchy was credited with 2 kills at this stage of the
war with shared kills of a Bf 110 and a He 177 helping the score board.
