This is
the Revell F-4E kit, not a reboxing of the Hasegawa kit, but the very old and
long OOP Revell kit.

I
completely rescribed the kit and used parts from various aftermarket sets and
the spares box to improve the build. The decals were a mix of Italeri kit
decals and a set from Xtradecal. They were horrible, but the markings were
attractive. Eduard PE sets were used for the front consoles and True
Details seats were used to improve the cockpit as well. The ejection
handles on the ejection seats were scratchbuilt. I used wheels from True
Details as well. The ALQ-131 and the AIM-9J were from the Hasegawa weapons
set. The centerline tank and the Mk-82s were from the Academy Strike Eagle
kit. I also scratchbuilt the pitot tube and added the formation lights and
anti skid areas.
Overall, for a real
old kit, I had a lot of fun building it. For the most part, it went really
well, despite the fact that many of the parts came from different sources, and
fit was a constant issue. The decals were horrible and inaccurate, but I
liked the markings and the aircraft turned out very attractive. It was a
good start for my first Phantom build.
