The H-34 was one of Sikorsky's most popular helicopter ever produced. The aircraft first flew in March 1954 and entered service with the US Army, the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. The aircraft was employed in a wide range of missions from passenger service, troop transport, medevac, supply, and for a short time as a gunship in Vietnam.

The Sikorsky H-34 has been a popular subject over the years by kit makers.  Gallery issued two 1/48 versions: a US Navy as well as a US Marines version.  I built both versions.

The Gallery model includes: finely engraved panel lines, a full cabin interior, webbed troop seats and rescue litters, detailed cockpit with seats and control grips, side rescue hoist, pilot’s side windows can be positioned open or closed and a tail assembly that can be built in flight position or folded for storage.  The parts fit well and it was a pleasure to build these machines.
