Grunau Baby IIb Beautiful vintage glider

In 2008 my friend Marius allowed me to fly in his beautiful Grunau Baby IIb D-6225. In 2013 I had the chance to fly the D-1261 which belongs to the aeroclub Grabenstetten (South Germany). I enjoyed very much flying this historic plane, so it was time to make a model of them. I chose the excellent resin kit from Airmodel Products in 1:72. The D-1261 I built already in 2013. Here you can see a short video with some scenes of my flight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvRGpUuh8K0&list=UUeiDro4wfzslhe-BZEcBzLA

Now I decided to make two models of the D-6225: One for Marius, the other one for my own collection.  To make the models looking a bit different I added pilots (figures from Preiser in 1:87) to the D-6225 and show them airborne. Marius´ flies a turn right and mine just flies a loop. Therefore I had to cut off the control surfaces and fit them again in the according positions.

Windscreens and some more details (pitot tubes, rods and wires) were built from scratch.

The models were painted with brush. I printed the decals on foil from ACT.  Finally I sprayed clear varnish over them.

Everytime I look on those models they remind me on the cool flights I had with them: A journey into the past!

Greetings from Germany!
