1/144 Academy F-4E
modified as F-4S VMFA 235 Here is another build of F-4 Phantom II Bu155749 serving with US Marines VFMA 235 " Death Angels". I came across a picture of this bird when was stationed at NAS Whiting Field sometime in 1982. It had undergone upgrading from the original J variant to the S variant between 1979 and 1980. It has the ECM bumps on the side of the air intake. However it had yet to be fitted with the leading edge slats.

As usual, I used the Academy kit for my build using mainly scratch-built parts for the modifications. I shall not dwell into the details as it is quite standard, having built several of the same kit for different variants and markings in my past submissions.
I hope to be able to find other markings of Bu155749. It had quite an illustrious service life having served chronologically with VF-21, VF-142, VF-96, VMFA-212, VMFAT-101, VMFA-235, VF-301, VMFA-321 and VMFA-134 before becoming a QF-4S with the Naval Weapons Test Squadron. Shown here are my 3 builds of Bu155749.
In the meantime, enjoy the photos. Comments are most appreciated.
