MiG-29S Peruvian Air Force
6th Aerial Group "Jose A.Quiñonez" Air Base, Chiclayo, Peru

Eastern Express kit was originally a MiG-29 SMT,until now this kit is the most precise in shape to make the peruvian fulcrum .Needed a lot of putty and many hours of sandpapering, especially in the "S" hump.

This kit isn't in NeOmega level, but is a great chance to the modeller that likes the iberoamerican air stuff, the peruvian flying tigers in this case.

To make the MiG-29S,this kit needed the following modifications:

  • Cut and fitting the SMT hump to the S model, lot of putty and sandpaper, many hours of work.
  • Replacement of tail fins by other of older kit 1/72 Revell MiG-29UB.
  • Replacement of missiles:4 R-73 and 2 R-27 from a 1/72 Berkut Su-37 kit.
  • Remarking of panel lines in both wings.
  • Replacement of pitot tube.

The camoflage scheme was taken from several pictures of the real plane (043),I use these model master enamels, Flat Gull Gray (FS 36440),USSR Fulcrum Gray/Green 2331 Testors and Gunship Gray (FS 36118).

I used the 1/72 "Flying Southern Tigers" from Albatros Modelworks (Zotz Decals), very good decals, good numeral and unit emblem.  But the camoflage scheme showed by Albatros is wrong, pictures from newspapers and magazines are better.

This version(MiG-29S 043), depicts the first MiG-29S exhibited the public in July 1997 by the former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori in Lima.

Now the Peruvian Fulcrums are localized in Jose Abelardo Quiñonez Air base in Chiclayo, in the north of Peru, together with Mirage 5P’s in 6th Aerial Group.

I hope you like my work,my Air Force.
