1/72 Revell North American

P-51B Mustang

This kit was one of new Revell toolings and was built OOB.  The fit was very good, no filler needed.  Details were nice too, main shortcoming was thick and bad fitting canopy (finally I only sat it on place without glue – maybe eventually I replace it with vacform canopy). The kit was airbrushed with Humbrol MetalCote, details with Revell enamels and Agama alcohol based colors.

Markings depict an aircraft of the 15AF, 306FS, 325FG fighting over Europe. National insignia decals were from the box, personal markings (ie Margie II. No. 51 and tail checkerboards) were created in CorelDraw and printed using LaserJet on clear decal film.  Panel lines were emphasized using future tinted black, the same method was used for darkening several panels.  Final coat was airbrushed Humbrol satin varnish, exhaust stains were done with pastel chalk.

Happy modelling
