  Sweden National Day 2005

This is my Tamiya 1/48 P-51D Mustang, build as an Swedish Airforce example. In Swedish AF service, the Mustang was called ”J26” and was used between the years 1945-1955 in the fighter and recce role.

On my model, the elevator was cut out and replaced with an Cutting Edge item. The prop, spinner and landing gear doors are from Ultracast. Custom made decals for the model were made by Mr Anders Nowotny of Red Bolt decals.  Eduard etch was also used.

The model was painted with Tamiya acrylics and 3 shades of Alclad II.  An overall panel line wash and some drybrushing completed the job.

The Swedish Mustangs were surplus USAAF examples. The white spinner denotes that the aircraft was used by the wing staff officers.  This specific full scale Mustang with Swedish registration 26046 was later sold to Israeli AF.
