Just a bit of story
first. Just after the war, Belgium received a lot of 6 Hawker Hurricanes Mk II b
and c. Three of them had a flying career, the other three served as instruction
airframes in the technical school. The one here (THS52 / ZC
RAF serial PZ769 ) belonged to 21 st squadron / 15 wing and served for
communication duties.
I used the beautiful
Revell kit to build this model. The construction was quite straightforward, the
model is really nice, easy to assemble with recessed panel lines, no putty
required.

Painting
was also an easy part. I used Model Master aluminium metalizer, which is really
fine. Then after a smooth polish and a coat of varnish for metalizer, I applied
the decals which are of excellent quality.
Some
time ago I bought a sheet from Dutch decal (Kit at war collection) dedicated to the
Belgian air force, and precisely with the transfers to build the three
Hurricanes that flew with the Belgian aviation.
I had the decals
before the kit, so I hurried to find one at least, and started immediately.
Since then, I got four more on e-bay
J.
My intentions are to build the three planes.
After I sealed the decals with the last coat
of satin varnish, I applied a soft wash of very diluted
burnt umber.
Here is a link to
the Belgian aviation web site where you’ll see a picture of the actual
aircraft.
