Hello everyone.
My latest submission to ARC is the excellent P-51A kit by Accurate Miniatures in
1/48. I found this particular example on the shelf of an old toy/pet store
for less than $20 US. Having never built an Accurate Miniatures kit
(I've been out of model building for a while) imagine my suprise at the quality
and level of detail straight out of the box. Also, assembly instructions
with actual text was a nice change from the usual 'diagram only' type.

No major fit
problems were apparent with the exception of the forward wing root/lower cowling
area. The clear instrument panel, when painted black and backed with the
instruments decal, creates an excellent three dimensional look to the
gauges. The rest of the cockpit is equally well detailed. The
engraved panel lines and detailed wheel wells round out this kit and help make
it a great build. I finished mine with Tamiya colors and weathered it with
various pastels and thinned artists oils for the panel lines. I also
used a Falcon vacuformed canopy. Hope you like it.
