This
kit was a true joy to build; I didn’t use any aftermarket kits or photo-etched
kits for the cockpit, however is was very detailed. I used Humbrol enamels, I do
not have the luxury of airbrush so I used Revell brushes. As this was my 5th
kit I’ve done, I hadn’t used putty or weathering, because I didn’t know
the techniques and methods, however the fit was extremely good there wasn’t
much need for putty. The panel lines were clear and precise. Additional
armaments were not added; I used the kit’s 4 AIM-9 Sidewinders and 2 drop
tanks. Decals of the 391’st FS, “Bold Tigers” flown by Squadron Commander
Lt.Col. Scottie Scott was used. As I was a novice at the time, I wasn’t aware
of using glue around the canopy, therefore the canopy became foggy and unclear.
I tried restoring it using toothpaste to finely sand it, it hadn’t made much
difference though, and there are also fine cracks in the windshield. I now have
water based canopy glue, too late now. Well we all learn from our mistakes. The
F-15E Strike Eagle is the dual-role fighter version of the F-15A/B and C/D air
superiority fighters. Designed to fly in both long-range ground attack and
air-superiority missions, simply put, it blows things up and shoots things down.
The ‘E’ is the result of a need to give the US Air Force the most capable
and versatile warplane today at a comparatively low cost.

I
also used Hasegawa’s 1/48th aircraft in action series U.S. Ground
Crew set: A
The
model is based on a thin wooden frame and an airfield pattern was glued over it.
