  Republic Day in Turkey 2006

Here is my 1/48 Tamiya P-47 D30 Thunderbolt finished in the markings of the Turkish Air Force (TuaF).

The Turkish Air Force used P-47 D30s during the period between 1948-1953.  Later they were replaced by F-84's in the end of 1953.

The base kit for my P-47 D30 is the new P-47 M from Tamiya.  No need to talk about this excellent Tamiya jewel. Everyone knows it well.

The model is built mostly out of the box. I started with the cockpit. I used the sidewalls and the instrument panel with the non-corrugated cockpit floor from the parts of M model.

All components are painted to Republic’s bronze green by using Gunze acrylics and later weathered as it needs.

The unique upgrading in the cockpit is the seat belts from Eduard.  In finishing I decided to add also PE gunsight from Tally Ho.

The model is painted  with Alclad Natural Aluminium lacquers. Some panels are darkened with different tones of Alclad family.

Turkish square national insignias and the flags on the tail are from Turquoise decals. I have checked my spare box for the code numbers on the fuselage.
