This is the Seminar
1:35 scale offering of the UH-1B. Straight out of the box, it will build into an
early "B" model. I wanted to do a late model "B" with the
armored seats because of the markings I saw for the 120th AHC
"Razorbacks" based in Cu Lai in '68, these markings are shown in the
Squadron Signal book "Gunslingers". Cobra Co. came to the rescue with
their back dated "C" set that not only provided the armored seats but
also replacement blades. My original blades were destroyed by the included
rubber ammo belts. I made my own decals on an inkjet printer (The stuff is not
color fast) from scans of the book and manipulated in photoshop. I robbed the 7
shot 2.75 FFAR from a Revell UH-1D kit and added my own brace to the fuselage
from plastic rod stock. I replaced the screens in the engine housing with brass
screen. I painted the entire model with model master enamels and sprayed a
very lite enamel panel shading/wash.

Typically, pictures
of UH-1B and C models from the 120th show line work of the Razorback instead of
the colorful representation as shown in the profile of the Squadron/Signal book.
In a brief conversation with the gentlemen who runs the 120th AHC website, he
indicated that the represented machine was for VIP's and not front line. Either
way, I happen to like the colorful markings and in some ways it's representation
of the espirit de corps of that particular unit.
