1/32 ARII A6M5c Zero

--------------------

This model has been the most frustrating I have built, The kit is No 4 by ARII of Japan, and nothing fit from the fuselage to the wings even the folding wheels did not fold, so in the end I resigned myself to finishing the kit as best I could without devoting anymore effort than was necessary (it had already taken 12 months) as I was contemplating the weathering process, it dawned on me that this would be the perfect kit to try all the ARC forum hints and tips I had been reading.  Well now I was keen again and away I went, within 2 weeks I went from undercoated unglued parts to finished kit and I am glad its over.

The plane is built OOB, using kit decals and paint scheme; I used Gunze paints and no aftermarket bits. I did not thin any paints (experiment)

Here are some of the ARC tips I used.

  • a.        Future on canopy and to apply some Decals,

  • b.       Tamiya Weathering set C,

  • c.        Sticky tape method to give the peeling paint effect,

  • d.       Applying Flat Cote to model,

What I learnt from making this model? Hmmmm my cardboard spray booth is inadequate, so I am building one myself of which I will detail to ARC readers and how it will cost you nothing to build.

 Cheers

Jesse
