Dear modellers,
This is my 1/32 Revell He162
Salamader. I
added captured decals from Cutting Edge and used a seatbelt set from
Airwaves..(actually it came with Airwaves pack but it was Eduard colored
set).
I used Model Master's RLM 76/73 and
some metalizers for the engine, a mix of RLM 76+matt white for nose.
The landing
gears were done in Gunze RLM 02. I didn't do any pre-shading or weathering,
because this plane was captured while it was still new.
Nothing much to tell about the kit, my dear
brother Emad Tabsh from Lebanon has prewieved it on ARC before. All
I can say is that; I kept my old friend Tamiya putty while I built this
plane..it was pretty good. Revell's lastest moulds are pretty nice.
About the plane;
The He 162 was one of last
products of the Nazi air industry. With the increasing Allied air raids, more
fighters were required. The RLM asked for a jet which could be built easily with
basic materials. Heinkel planned and flew this type of plane in 69 days and used semi
skilled workers. Material was metal, stuff and wood..
I picked up that decal set coz a captured
Heinkel would be great. The RAF captured this plane in the summer of
1945 in Leck. (By the way; Cutting Edge has done a great job with decals..good datas, good
decals..)
I dedicate this plane to my little friend
Li'l from Hawaii and his family...
Happy modelling
Zafer
