I built this kit
three years ago, in 2004, and I thought it would be good to show it.
Better late than never. The build of the Tamiya F-15E kit is very easy as
everything fits well. So I won't detail it.
The only tricky area are the jet intakes, which requires to be sanded, in
order to hide a big seam. And once they are closed, you need to paint the
front part in gray, and the rear in white. So I painted it overall white,
and then I added foam so the grey paint would not enter the area that
needs to be white.

The paint is
enamel from Humbrol. The metalic area around the exhausts and the exhausts
themselves were painted with Alclad laquers. These paints are great, and
they do look like metal.
The decal sheet is from TwoBob's Saddam Hunters.
I chose the Dirty Bird. The Eduard
Model Accessories cockpit detail set added some details to the cockpit,
especially to the canopy frame. Otherwise, the kit was built out of the
box, and it doesn't need anything else.
It took me two
months to finish it. This was a fun project, which was worth the effort and
money spent. Once completed it is huge. You will need room to display it.

And to end this article, a pic of the real Strike Eagle, taken in June 2007 at
Paris Air Show.
