Although
I mostly build jet aircraft, every now and then I try something different like
this 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XVIe in Belgian airforce markings. This is the Italeri
kit, a reboxing of the older but still quite nice Occidental kit. This was a
rather simple build, with the aircraft being constructed largely out of the box
without any major problems, I just added a couple of items from an Eduard zoom
set in the cockpit (instrument panel, some side panel details, gunsight and seat
belts).

Colours
are all Humbrol enamels, the nicely thin decals are from the kit and
worked out very well. Weathering is a combination of pre- and postshading,
followed by a wash with thinned enamels to enhance the panel lines. Finally, some paint chipping was done with a silver pencil.
Hope you like the
pics!

Belgium,
Patrick
