For your viewing
pleasure, here is my 1/72 scale Hasegawa F-16C. The model depicts aircraft #
84274 of the Texas ANG, 147th Fighter Wing, 111st Ace-In-The Hole Fighter
Squadron. Throughout its 90 year history, the 147th FW has an impressive list of
achievements and a long list of distinguished alumni that includes the current
President of the United States, The Honorable George W. Bush.
On the morning of 11
September 2001, four 147th FW aircraft escorted the President, the former 147th
FIG pilot George W. Bush, on board Air Force 1, from Florida to Louisiana, to
Nebraska, and finally back to Washington DC that same day.

CONSTRUCTION:
Construction
of the kit was pretty straight forward and mostly out of the box except for the
ejection seat and the missiles. The ejection seat is an ACES II seat from True
details and fit nicely into the cockpit assembly. Because I used an after
market ejection seat, I went with an open canopy. I used AIM 9L and AIM 120
AMRAAM missiles from the Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons III kit to configure the
model for Air Defense Combat Air Patrol Missions.
PAINTING:
I airbrushed the
model for a factory fresh paint job using Testors Model Master enamels (FS36118,
FS36270, FS36320, and FS36375). For the wheel wells and landing gear assemblies
I use Floquil Reefer White. I used a couple of coats of Future to prepare for
the decals and a mixture of Model Master Semi-Gloss and Flat Clear Lacquer
Finish for the finish.
DECALS:
For the model decals
I used the kit decals which are excellent. They are printed well, easily placed
on the model, and snug down to the model surface nicely.
Overall the kit is
of good quality, good detail, well engineered, and enjoyable to build.
