This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 P-38's with noseart.

The first aircraft is a P-38H-5-LO, 42-67060, 'Skylark IV', flown by Maj Mark Shipman with the 55 FG/38FS from Nothhampstead England in November 1943.  The white code letters on the side were CG*S.  The paint scheme for this aircraft is an olive drab scheme with olive drab on top and grey on the underside.  The nose art is a cartoon bird ina  Robin Hood hat in a full archery pose ready to let an arrow go from his bow and arrow with white text that reads "Skylark IV".  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The second plane is a F-5C-1-LO (P-38J), 42-67128 called 'Dot-Dash' flown by Lt E. A.Thies, Col Paul Cullen, Lt Claude Murray, with the 7 PG/22 PS out of Mount Farm, England in May 1944.  This P-38 has a overall blue paint scheme in a combination of Sky Base Blue and Flight Blue.

The noseart is a cute blonde in a red outfit witha  blue cap in a flying superman pose on the side of the forward engine cowling.  The artwork of this aircraft has white decals to go underneath the noseart decal.

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and includes 3 view colour drawings of each aircraft and an extra 2 pages of text telling the history behind each aircraft as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
