--------------------

This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for three different 1/32 P-47's in camo paint schemes that include noseart.

The first aircraft is a P-47D-25-RE "Hairless Joe" flown by Lt Col David Schilling, 56th FG "The Wolf Pack" Deputy Commander in late 1944.  This is the 'early version' paint scheme for this aircraft which is a wavy stripped camo on top of RAF Dark Green and Neutral Gray with natural metal on the underside.  The rudder is yellow on both sides and the engine cowling forward ring is red.  This aircraft has D-Day stripes on the lower part of the rear fuselage.  There are 14 kill markings on the side of the fuselage below the canopy and the white code letters on the side of the rear fuselage are LM S.  The noseart is a hillbilly caveman carrying a large club in one hand and a large rock in the other hand.  He has a leopard shin vest and a pair of blue jean pants with a rope for a belt.

The second aircraft is a late version of the first aircraft and the only real difference is the camo paint on the tail and rear fuselage.  It is a P-47D-25-RE "Hairless Joe" flown by Col David Schilling, 56th FG Commander in late 1944.  This is the 'late version' paint scheme for this aircraft which is a wavy stripped camo on top of RAF Dark Green and Neutral Gray with natural metal on the underside.  The rudder is mostly yellow on both sides and the engine cowling forward ring is red.

The third aircraft is a P-47D-25-RA 42-28878 "Eileen" flown by Lt Frank Oiler with the 78th FG/84 FS in 1944.  The paint scheme for this aircraft is RAF Dark Green on top and RAF Sky on the underside.  The tail has a horizontal white stripe on both sides and the engine cowling forward ring is black and white checker board.  This aircraft has D-Day stripes on the lower part of the rear fuselage.  The white code letters on the side of the rear fuselage are WZ S.  The noseart is a dangerous looking hornet holding what appears to be a couple of gray bones.  He is black and yellow with blue wings with the script "Eileen" next to the noseart.

The instructions are clear and include 3 views of each aircraft as well as 2 very detailed pages of text telling about each aircraft on this decal sheet and 4 view line drawing showing general P-47 stencil placement.  The decals are beautifully printed on 3 decal sheets.  It appears you get two complete set of stencils with this decal sheet.

A very nice decal sheet with some great markings for this classic WW2 fighter.
