This new resin F-4E(S)
Peace Jack Nose
conversion set is for the Hasegawa F-4E/F from Cutting
Edge Modelworks. This
is the enlarged recce nose built on an Israeli F-4E fighter airframe
to contain the HIAC-1 (LOROP) camera. This set is based on
recent technical data and photos that have become available to Cutting
Edge Modelworks.

Note that decal
markings for this jet are available separately on Cutting
Edge Modelworks decal
sheet CED48004, Israeli F-4s & RF-4s (DOUBLE SHEET!), now reprinted and once
again available from
Meteor
Productions. This set is designed for the Hasegawa
kit and is unlikely to fit any other
manufacturer's F-4E kit.
Building an Israeli
aircraft is always a highlight and I was quite pleased to see this set released.
The windows are done with clear resin and they are very clear......every bit as
clear as clear styrene. Doing this conversion is fairly simple if you go
slow and follow the instructions. You'll need to cut the pieces from the
casting block with an X-Acto knife.....go slow and use a new blade and it will
go well. You'll need to carefully cut the nose off the Hasegawa fuselage
halves. The windows will have to be test fit into the resin nose halves
and adjustment for any possible slight fit problems should be done before the
glue is brought into the picture. The instructions do include basic paint
instructions for the camera which will be hidden in the nose behind windows, so
only basic painting instructions are needed.

Resin casting
is of a very high quality and all the detail is very well done with no air
bubbles. This
new resin set from Cutting
Edge Modelworks will permit modelers to
build an Israeli recce Phantom....which would be a very cool addition to any
model collection of Israeli aircraft.
Steve
I would like to
thank Cutting Edge
Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
