--------------------

This new decal sheet from Fightertown Decals includes markings for 3 different 1/48 F-14A/B/D's with VF-101 Grim Reapers.

There is a long list of people that helped on this sheet including LT Charles Escher, LTJG Daniel Poirier, LT Dom Telenko, CDR Chris Murdoch, CDR Tom O'Dowd, LCDR Brian Garrison, LT Tom Nagelin, LT Wrenn Landers, Brian "Oompa" Marbrey, Mike "Strokes" Pister, Andy Mullen and Thomas "Fury".  Well done Guys!!!

The 4 aircraft include one CAG jet in hi-viz markings and 2 line jets in lo-viz markings.

  • F-14B, Gunfighter 101 BuNo 162923 "Tomato" NAS Oceana in Sept - Oct 1995.  This is a hi-viz jet with all markings in black with the tails and anti-glare area around the canopy painted in Insignia Red.

  • F-14B, Gunfighter 100 BuNo 162910 in 2004.  This is a great looking jet with all markings in medium gray.  The things that stands out in the markings is the sharks mouth on the nose and the very well done Grim Reaper artwork on the tail.

  • F-14D, Gunfighter 160 BuNo 164601 in 2004.  This is a great looking jet with all markings in medium gray.  The things that stands out in the markings is the sharks mouth on the nose and the very well done Grim Reaper artwork on the tail.

  • F-14A, Reaper 160 BuNo 164601 in 1995.  This is a great looking jet with all markings in dark Euro gray which is a very dark gray.   This jet has different Grim Reaper artwork on the tail.....of a flying Grim Reaper with red eyes.

The instructions are clear and include multiply views of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed on 1 decal sheet with 9 insert decal sheets and includes landing gear, ejection seat and helmet decals.  Plus 2 sets of formation lights and at least sets of data markings. One added feature is the long thin black decals.....hard to describe but these are at the bottom of the main decal sheet and are custom cut to fit the darker areas of the outside of the burner can.   The quality of the decals is first rate.

The Grim Reapers have some great artwork and they have quite the following among modelers and aviation enthusiasts and it's good to see the variety or artwork and paint schemes included on this decal sheet.
