There have been a flurry of articles on modelling website forums recently about refurbishing old or damaged kits, a lot of modellers have half finished or abandoned projects hanging around along with the completed kits which represent a cross section of you own personal learning curve.

I moved house 10 yrs ago and a lot of my own learning curves found their way in to the loft where they slowly got knocked around while I searched for summer chairs old toys clothes etc, also recent move to a purpose built workshop prompted a good clear out. I kept a few old kits, the rest are in the trash or given away.  My Mig 21 survived in five or six pieces and apart from that just needed a good wash with some soapy water.  The cockpit has a bit of scratch built detail the rest is oob, I weathered the airframe with pastels and added some chipped paint with a silver pencil.  The kit is brush painted and is an east German airforce version based at Forst Preschen in 1990.

I have recovered about five kits recently and its a good way to save your cash rather than fork out to replace them.

Cheers
