Turkish Victory Day

Hello All!

The Hawker Hunter was a real success for British aviation which has been exported to almost 20 countries.  I guess she deserved being called as one of icons of the Cold War.

The legend of the Hawker Hunter was started by famous WWII Hurricane's chief designer Sydney Camm.  It was designed as a carrier based aircraft from the beginning and RAF didn't pay attention to the project at the beginning. But in 1948, the prototype P.1052 was shown with a 35 degree swept wing that the RAF could not skip it this time.  Prototypes P.1081 and P.1067 were built with some improvements.

Finally Hunter F.1 entered service in 1954 and her long service started.  The Hawker Hunter saw action on Arab-Israeli, Indo-Paki wars.  Various versions have been built and finally the last Hawker Hunter was retired in 2001 by the Indian Air forces; she was replaced by Su-30MKs.

My kit was from Revell. Revell's own moulds which have been released after year 2000 are usually good.  Just a little bit putty required for underside of fuselage.  Panel lines are engraved and cockpit instruments were raised; there is even a moulded seatbelt which is enough for this scale.

I converted my plane to a Singaporese FGA.74,I checked reference pictures and added the required antennas.  Plus, I used two spare pylons and sidewinders from my spare box.

I used Gunze's dark earth, Green 302 and RAF dark green, for under surfaces I used matt white that I broke with a drop of grey. Colors seem OK to me..

The only aftermarket item that I used was Xtradecals.  They went well with Microsol solutions.

At the end of it all, it was a fun project, I enjoyed very much.

Happy modelling to all..
