1/48 Italeri Mirage F1M

I saw the picture of this plane on the net and thought it very attractive.  This is a Mirage F1M of the Spanish Air Force as seen on July 3, 2006 in Koksijde (EBFN), Belgium.  My greatest fear was not finding a decal sheet with the markings, but fortunately, after some searching I found a decal sheet by Albatros named "The Dark Mirage".  What a great collection of decals. It had all the necessary markings.  After that, I had to do some minor alterations on the kit, such as; adding side headlights and navigation lights at the tip of the wings.  The air intakes on the tail had to be re-sculpted.

The pale gray and gray tiger stripes were done with automotive paint. The underwing tanks were taken from another Mirage kit.

The air intakes on top of the tail had to be re-sculpted.  Somehow Italeri gosslly misrepresented this part of the jet.  All in all, this was a fun kit to put together and the "low visibility" marking scheme really stands up for its name.
