We all know the spitfire so it doesn't really need an introduction. So how can we make this utterly drained subject slightly more interesting? Well, with Iron Maiden of course.

The famous British heavy metal band have a song called Aces High and during this song a full size Spitfire replica is suspended over the stage. This inspired Revell to turn this into a 1:32 scale model kit to please both Spitfire as well as Iron Maiden fans.

The kit uses the already great 1:32 scale Revell Spitfire part and adds a set of special decals for two versions and, even better, two 1:32 scale Eddies. (Eddie is Iron Maiden's mascot lingering between life and death as he addornes their albums and frequently appears on stage.) The kit itself is an easy build. The sprues start to look a bit worn, probably due to high production numbers but fit is still great just as the details. But those two figurines by themselves are totally worth the price of the kit.

I didn't need to add much extra details apart from a few belts behind the pilot. I used some of the paint provided by Revell (including something that resembles a brush...) but needed to switch to MrHobby products to make sure it all went well. I weathered the kit quite a bit applying the usual techniques. I hope you enjoy the end product.
