I built Hasegawa's
Hawker Typhoon using the out-of-production Jaguar Resin and photoetch detail
set. This was one of the nicest sets I've ever used. I wish they were still
being made, but you can find them occasionally. The markings came from an
Aeromaster sheet.

I had previously
built Hasegawa's Car Door version using the same Jaguar set. The fuselage is
used for both versions, and separate parts are molded for the different cockpit
openings. The fit of these parts was much better on the car door release.
The camouflage was painted using
Model Master enamel RAF colors of Ocean Gray and Dark Green over Medium Sea
Gray. The underside color was masked, and the top colors were sprayed freehand.
The ID bands on the wing's leading edges is Color of Eagles RLM 04. The exhausts
were brush painted, using Model Master Metalizer non-buffing Burnt Iron.
Brushing this paint allows a more random distribution of dark and metallic
color.
Without invasion or ID stripes on
the wings, this makes an unusual Typhoon. It still packed the same punch,
though. A very powerful-looking attack aircraft.

Some Typhoons
fitted with the "teardrop" canopy had black cockpits. Some were
converted from car doors, and had British Interior Green cockpits with black
painted above the internal framework. This is how I chose to build mine, as I
didn't want the detail of the Jaguar set to be unseen.
