Here
is my diorama of Galland’s JG 26 at Wissant, France in Sep 1940.
The Kits are the Monogram 109 E-4 and Dragon’s Battle of Britain
Luftwaffe day fighter crew. The decals for the 109 are from Aero Master
detailing his machine when he had just achieved his 40th kill on 25 Sep 40.

Above
on the left is the picture on which I based my dio, Galland lands
at
Wissant after his 40th victory
|
The
diorama shows him in the white peak cap reading a newspaper while the first
Ritterkreuz winners of JG 26, Gerhard Schöpfel and Joachim Muncheberg play
cards with other crew. The
Ubiquitous ‘black men’ push Galland’s machine back into readiness.
The
grass and gravel are railway model scenics. And Galland’s newspaper is plain
paper with penciled text and pics. The 109 is very lightly weathered with chalk
pastels and an HB pencil.
