1/32 Academy F/A-18 Hornet

It's hard to believe that a few years back, the US Navy was kind enough to let me work on the flight deck with this plane flying around, as well as the Eagle-nosed VFA-195 "Chippie Ho!" bird, and the VFA-192 Golden Dragons Blue-and-gold Hornet.

This aircraft was actually discussed on the boards a few weeks ago. We were off the coast of Australia when the port main mount snapped on launch and severely injured one of my shipmates badly.  The pilot of the plane managed to get it airborne and landed safely in Australia.

The kit was built OOB, primed with Tamiya gray primer, and finished with Model Master Acrylics.  The outstanding decals are from CAMDecals, and feature glow-in-the-dark formation lights!  I used a Sharpie fine point to color the red and green lights, which worked extraordinarily well.
