1/48 Hasegawa A6M2-N Rufe

by Bill Lachance

--------------------

I built Hasegawa's 1/48 A6M2-N "Rufe" using Eduard's photoetched detail set. It includes items for the cockpit, engine, and flaps. It's addition brings the level of detail up to the larger scale kits (and saves money and shelf space). I only wish they had included cowl flaps.

I added some wiring and linkages that were missing from the Eduard set, using this walkaround as reference: http://j-aircraft.com/walk/dave_pluth/blayd/blayd.htm .

I found a photo of this aircraft which shows that the paint is intact, and the airframe was kept clean.

I used Model Master SAC Bomber Tan to replicate the Nakajima Amber Gray (Ame-iro) that these aircraft wore. I used the kit decals, and clear coated it with a mixture of Testor's Dullcote and Glosscote.
