1/48 Eduard Bf 108 Taifun

This is Eduard's "Profi-Pack" version of their Messerschmitt Bf-108 Taifun. It includes photoetched parts, so I built this one straight from the box.

A nice cockpit, instrument panel, and engine are included in this kit. The engine is a tight fit, and I didn't get the front piece aligned very well. This can be added after you install the engine to ensure it's orientation, but it won't be seen on the finished build.

I like the looks of the Taifun's clamshell doors in the open position, but the canopy is one injected piece. I carefully scribed the outline of the door (over and over and over) to separate it.

There is a fairly nasty step and gap where the wing's trailing edge meets the lower rear fuselage. I built up layers of Zap-A-Gap CA to smooth things.

I ordered a bunch of paints from White Ensign Models website, and used them on this build. The splinter is their RLM 70 and 71 over 65. The RLM 71 appears more red than the Model Master enamel I usually use, and the RLM 65 looks lighter and less green. Oh well. They make a different-looking aircraft look more different! I wanted to stay away from the desert scheme that you most often see. If you try these paints, thin them with lacquer thinner. I first tried MM's airbrush thinner, and the results were not optimal.
