1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Ia

Really enjoyed this one, and apart from some silvering of the stock decals, I'm pleased with the results. The fit of parts was amazing, I don't recall using one scrap of filler for this build. 48th seems to be a nice scale for a Spitfire build too, the aeroplane doesn't seem to have the same 'presence' in 72nd scale. The whole thing was brush painted, which presented problems using Tamiya acrylic 'sky' for the underside - this colour seemed to 'layer' really badly, no matter how much I thinned it, it would dry in seconds. I managed to get around this by finishing the final coat with a mix of 'sky' and acrylic thinner at 25% and 75% respectively. This seemed to smooth things over somewhat. Anyways . . .  'throw one up' for the mighty Spitfire! Ya gotta love 'em.
