This well known
airplane was incorporated by Argentina between 1947 -1950, and was operational
as long as 1960. 94 were bought by the navy, some AT-6 and some SNJ-4/5, which were
modified with an arresting hook, for carriers duty from de " A.R.A
Independencia". In 1955, these planes took part in the "revolucion
libertadora" (one of the many bloody wars between Argentinina's army and
navy). They flew on the navy side in patrol duties, but also attacking army
troops heading to naval bases. The same happened in 1963....once again......on the
navy side. The AT-6 also had some engangements with the Chilean navy, flying from Ushuaia.

This classic kit was
improved by separating every single moving part, scratch building actuactors for
the ailerons, rebuilding the seats, side walls and adding lots of wire to the
canopy, and...... a junkyard look! The kit was first painted with humbrol
silver, then I applied water and salt...when that was dry, I painted some areas in
different rust tones.....salt again and finally the gloss yellow...remove the
salt with tape, and this is what it turns out...the decals are from aerocalcas,
excellent again....
This is part 1 of a
trainers trilogy, next will be the F-9 j Cougar.....
