1/48 Italeri F-16B

Venezuelan Air Force Fighting Falcon

Here is another Falcon from my collection. This time it is a F-16B built from an Italeri Kit.  The model was basically built out of the box.  I used an Hasegawa armament kit, Verlinden LANTIRN,  and  an after-market decal set commemorating the 20th anniversary from Aztec Decals to enhance the model.  Also some scratch building was done to improve the pilot and co-pilot offices.  The kit has an exceptional fit, I  really have no problem  building it. The paint scheme was done using Model Masters paint  from Testors.  Some weathering was applied with a wash of water-based black after the post shading.

I used as references, pictures taken by fellow modeler Ivan Pena in Base Aerea El Libertador where the Falcons are based. The F-16's have been in service since 1983, and they are operated by Grupo Aereo de Caza Nr. 16. The air group is divided in two squadrons, 161 and 162,  each one operating 12 aircraft.

I hope you enjoy it, and happy modeling!!!
