This is my
latest project which I just completed. It's the Hasegawa 1/48 F-14D.
As many before me have stated, there is no need to go into the
construction aspects of this kit. With that in mind, it is, in my
opinion the best representation of the Tomcat in 1/48 and well worth the
time it takes to build it.

It was
constructed using both the Black Box F-14D cockpit set as well as their
F-14 Bombcat set. The Bombcat set provided me with the LTS pod,
GPS ball ( on the spine ) and the GPS receiver located on top of the RIO's
instrument shroud. Other parts are in the set, but were not used.
The kit itself did not come with any ordanance. As a result I had to
revert to my "stash" for the AIM-9's and the Hasegawa Smart
Weapons set "D" for the GBU-12's. The model was painted
using Model Master enamels. The decals are the beautiful Twobobs,
VF-2 Bounty Hunters Last Cruise OIF. Panel lines were defined using
artists water color, raw umber. The weathering was done using different
shades of gray and black pastel chalks applied with paint brushes.
After looking at all
the wonderful models over the years at ARC I finally decided to submit one
myself. I hope you all enjoy and comments are welcome.
Bill
