1/48 Airfix Buccaneer S.1

Hi all,

This is my Airfix 1:48th Blackburn Buccaneer S.1 (Converted from the S.2 Kit).  The model depicts aircraft XN959 103/E of circa late summer 1965 whilst embarked on HMS Eagle, Royal Navy.

The conversion was not difficult, just time consuming and there are a surprising amount of details to change an S.2 to an S.1.  I scratch built the hinge nose areas, the wing folds and the Red Beard weapon and its weapon bay.  I used Neomega’s cockpit tub and amended it to better depict an S.1.  The airbrakes (in addition to the kit parts) were partly scratch built and part use of the Airwaves set.  The decals were a nightmare and were a real mix match of all sorts, including hand painting…

…..Please, if there any decal printers reading, can you please make some pale blue letters down to a size of 4 inches in 1:48th scale!!

Anyway, I hope you like it
