Another installment in my CF-104
series. This one is a tribute to both my late father, and my uncle,
who flew these aircraft for years. The 104 was definitely their
favourite aircraft. This example is done in the earliest scheme -
bare metal, with the white tailplane top surface. Decals are from
Belcher Bits, as are the underwing pylons and camera reconnaissance pod on
the fuselage centerline.

I used Alclad Aluminum (polished
aluminum overall, with the duller colour for the area around the
tailpipe), sprayed over a black base coat. The results are actually
quite nice, but I think I still like bare metal foil for natural metal
finishes. I will be building a two-seat version (from the training
unit in Cold Lake) soon in bare metal foil. I found the Alclad to be
a little difficult to work with - masking tape had a tendency to lift off
the Alclad paint.
Note that the left
fuselage has the 3 Wing crest - this Wing was in Lahr
Germany, where my uncle flew these aircraft the most.
