I was very sad to hear the terrible
news my close friend Jimmy Galvez passed away from a sudden heart attack this past weekend at the model show in
Guayaquil, Ecuador. The show was cancelled on the spot. Jimmy was only 49. We originally met and spent
plenty of time together at the at the Atlanta
Nationals in 2005. Through e-mails, Jimmy showed me the beauty
of Ecuador in our many e-mails and he had convinced me to visit Ecuador to
attend their show and I knew one day I would visit him in Ecuador. Jimmy was the
President of the IPMS
Guayaquil, Ecuador (website is off line for 1 month in
memory of Jimmy) and the show was something he always looked forward to
each year. Jimmy had a passion and love for scale modelling like few
people I know. Jimmy loved this hobby and his model club was a friendlier
because Jimmy was part of the club.
Jimmy was the type of person that
could make you feel at ease minutes after meeting him. He was very
friendly and whoever met him was sure to remember him, because of his friendly
nature. As big as our planet is.....it somehow seems smaller and
friendlier with guys like Jimmy. I am very sorry to know that Jimmy is no
longer with us.....this is very sad new for everyone that knew him.
This past Aug 22 on my birthday
Jimmy sent me this e-mail.
