This new decal
sheet from Cutting Edge
Modelworks includes markings for 4 different Me-262's.
The
first aircraft is a Me-262 S7 W.Nr. 130012 with Eprobungskommando
262 from Lechfeld in the summer of 1942. The paint
scheme overall RLM 76 with text aircraft markings. This was
the 7th series production aircraft. On the side of the fuselage
are the marking VI AL with a red number 6 on the side of the forward
fuselage. This aircraft had an engine fire and crash landed on
June 1 1944. the aircraft never flew again but it was retained
for landing gear testing.
The
second aircraft is a Me-262 A-2a W.Nr. 111711 flown by Hans Fry
(test pilot) from Schwabisch Hall in March 1945 & Wright
Field in 1946. Hans Fry defected with this aircraft to
Frankfurt at the end of the war. While at Wright Field this
aircraft was used in flight testing comparisons against other
American fighters. On the 12th flight there was an engine and
the pilot bailed out.....the aircraft was lost. The paint
scheme is overall natural metal with grey putty covering the panel
lines. There is a small section of RLM 02 at the base of the
tail.
