Aviaeology
Serials & Codes for RAF and FAA Aircraft, 1939 -’45
The Canadian company of
Aviaeology has launched a series of decal sheets in Black (Night) and Dull
Red that will be of interest to modellers of British aircraft of the WW II
period. Available in both 1/72 and 1/48, the sheets will allow custom
markings (serials and codes) to be applied to models of the RAF, FAA and
some Commonwealth air arms. The styles depicted represent both the
‘official’ fonts, and some unorthodox variations. Reference to Air
Ministry Orders and Air Publications has ensured a high level of accuracy.
The sheets
themselves come in a single colour, either Dull Red, Black, or Grey, with
a continuous clear carrier. The sharpness of the individual characters is
quite pronounced. In the larger scale, the sheet is 5" x 8", in
the smaller scale, 5" x 4". The quantity and selection of
characters will suffice for numerous models.
Printing of the sheets is
by Microscale. Normal decal solvents are recommended, although testing
first for compatibility is advised.
