Frederick Smith
has built and finished the 1/72 Hasegawa A-10A Thunderbolt II to

Hellenic Air Force Day |
|
Typhoon Yolanda is
currently at it's peak.......I'm not sure what the wind speed
is......but it's much higher than howling winds. I'm
hunkered down with 4 local friends keeping safe as we eat home
cooked garlic prawns and rice for lunch and tonight we'll have beef cooked in a Filipino way with a birthday cake to celebrate the
birthday of one of the people in our group. All is well and everyone's extended family in our group safe and sound.
Everyone has been busy texting to make sure loved ones found safe
shelter. It's almost sunset here with the storm still raging
and we'll sit tight until first light before we venture outside, but
early reports are that their bamboo houses with concrete corner
pillars have survived this super typhoon. The power grid was
shut down as soon as the winds reached a certain speed and I suspect
it will be days before repairs are done and the power is back.
I will be attempting to make my scheduled flight out....but it is
uncertain if the road is clear or if the boats will be up and
running early enough to get to the airport on time.....but I will
try.

|
|
Stephan Mühlberger
has gone the extra mile detailing his 1/32 Academy CF-188B.

Well the typhoon
Yolanda has yet to show itself....it's a tiny bit windy here, but
nothing worthy of concern. This place should be in full storm
mode in about 12 hours (2pm eastern US time) until then it's a
waiting game. I'm quite confident we'll be very safe in this
concrete hotel room, but it does go against all common sense (from a
North American point of view) to ride through a Cat 5 typhoon
(hurricane). I am beginning to hear thunder in the distance,
which I'm assuming might be the approaching typhoon.

|
|
Artur Oslizlo

Yang Yu-Pei
has been very busy super detailing his 1/32 Hasegawa Bf-109G.

this.

I'm currently
finishing a 2 week trip to the Philippines and as luck would have
it....my location appears in the direct path of a Category 4
Typhoon. My fight home on Friday is now delayed as the storm
will be at it's peak then and all flights have been cancelled for 2
days. There is a very good chance the eye of the storm will be
going over my location. I am in a concrete hotel room that
should give me excessive protection. I will be going out at
first light to offer shelter in my hotel room to my local friends to
protect them from the worst of the storm as I know their modest home
will not be safe during this storm. Once the storm hits, the
power grid locally will be badly damaged which could make daily
updates impossible until I can arrange a flight home. I will
do my best to keep the daily updates happening.

|
|
Sean Langley
went to great lengths to build and detail his exceptionally fine
1/48 Monogram B-26B Marauder. Sean battled fit issues
during the building process and went the extra miles adding

Sean....this one is stgunning.

Shalom Hen
gets things started today with his beautifully done 1/48 Italeri F-86E Sabre.
Shalom chose what-if markings for an Israeli Sabre in a period
correct camo and I must say I completely enjoyed seeing the photos
of this one.

Olivier Barles
Is here with his 1/32
Hasegawa Focke-Wulf 190 A-6 painted in one of most interesting
camo schemes I've seen on a 190. This is a special camo scheme
from the summer of '43 at the battle of Kursk and it reminds me of
some of the unique camo schemes worn by German armour units during
WW2.

Fred Shammas
graces ARC today with photos of his 1/48 F-4M Phantom II diorama.
This is a Royal Navy Phantom II complete with drop tanks and
posed in one of Fred's very realistic diorama settings. |

Polly Singh
is here in style with his Indian Air Force 1/72 Novo
Hawker Hunter. This was a very inexpensive kit that Polly transformed
into quite the gem in the markings for a No 27 sqn "The Flaming
arrows" jet in 1985. Polly has a solid talent for doing
amazing things with not so amazing model kits. |

Gerd Wilcken
joins us today with his beautifully done and very tiny 1/144 Revell Goodyear FG-1D.
This is one of the very rare Goodyear Corsairs and Gerd chose to
build his as a battle veteran Corsair that participated in the Foot
ball War back in '69. Gerd captured the look of this Corsair
perfectly with the bright markings and worn camo. Very nicely
done Gerd.

Fred is a master at realism in his model photography and his photos
show this very well.....he will be missed by many of us.
